He doesn't solve cases. They solve themselves around him. He gave up explaining it.
More you show up, luckier you get.
The Fortunate Detective. Cases don't get cracked by him so much as they unravel in his presence, and he stopped asking why a long time ago. People call it luck. He calls it gratitude, paying attention, and the quiet certainty that things tend to work out. He's the warm one. When everything gets loud, he lands soft and sure, and somehow you believe him.

Arthur Bruce Watson doesn't really solve cases. They solve themselves around him, and they always have. He stopped trying to explain it a long time ago. People call it luck. He'd tell you it's gratitude. He never lost his grip on the fact that being here at all is a gift, and somehow, when you hold onto that, the right doors keep opening.
He sees things clearly. He knows everybody got handed the same job, survive, with the same fine print, you won't. He doesn't flinch at that and he doesn't go dark over it. He just decides to be all the way here while he's here. That's his real talent. Not deduction. Presence. He may be the most completely present person you'll ever stand next to.
He lives in Running Hot Springs, where he knows the name of every bartender, barista, and bus driver, mostly because he talked to all of them. He'll talk your ear off if you seem even a little interested, and he's missed three flights this year alone, every one of them at an airport pub, mid-story, completely happy about it. On weekends he goes treasure hunting and swears it's the same job as detective work. Clues and paying attention. He's not wrong.
He roots for the underdog, hard. He'll tell you amber is the color of all energy, not just the one the song means. He believes things tend to work out, not because he's naive, but because he's been paying attention long enough to know they usually do. When the room gets loud or dark, he lands quiet and certain, and you find yourself believing him.
When it's his turn to read a transmission, he doesn't rush it and he doesn't force it. He trusts that if you pay attention long enough, the meaning shows up on its own. The more you show up, he'll tell you, the luckier you get.
