Harvest

Produce that earned an opinion.

LightEditorialEarthyWarm

Born From

A produce company that chose sage green and dark earth-brown because they understood their customers look at vegetables the way designers look at color palettes. The orange-red accent that is the color of a tomato and an opinion at the same time.

Why It Works

Sage-olive surface (#8E9871) is farm-coded without being cliche. Fraunces serif heading is warm and editorial, like a farmers market sign with taste. Dark earth-brown text creates brand cohesion with the border color. Orange-red accent (#F2673D) is harvest energy that pops off white and sage.

Best For

Sustainable food and produce brand pages. Farm-to-table and ethical food brands. Eco-conscious DTC storefronts. Food subscription service landing pages.

Skip This If

Your brand is urban or tech-forward. You need clean minimal white surfaces. The earthy earth-tone palette conflicts with your product category.

Palette

Harvest starts with white.

One red to break the silence.

Sage-olive surface (#8E9871) is the most specific color in this collection. It is not green. It is not gray. It is the color of sage leaves in late afternoon sun, and it is completely ownable. Against white, it creates strong visual separation — the sections with olive surfaces feel like the farm, the white sections feel like the table.

Orange-red accent (#F2673D) is the harvest pop. Against the white canvas it is warm and approachable. Against the olive surface it is electric. The dark earth-brown text (#2D1C0E) is the palette's anchor — the color of good soil.

Wonky produce. Considered design.

The same logic applies to both.

Harvest's sage-olive surfaces and Fraunces serif headings treat vegetables as editorial subjects, giving produce the typography and color it has always deserved.

Typography

Instrument Serif at 500.

Paired with Geist Mono.

Fraunces is an expressive optical serif with playful formal qualities — its bowls are slightly swollen, its serifs are slightly irregular. It reads as artisanal and considered without being precious. At weight 500 with tight heading line-height, it creates display headings that feel like they were set by hand.

Space Grotesk for body has a slightly mechanical quality — the monospace heritage shows in consistent character widths — that creates interesting contrast with the Fraunces headings. Craft heading, utilitarian body. The 14px base is compact and dense, like a well-edited magazine rather than a landing page optimized for bounce rate.

Earth brown text. Garden shadow.

The brand color goes all the way down.

Even the shadow in Harvest carries a green tint, because when the brand is built on the earth, the spatial system should carry that reference too.

PRODUCT

The design system you build once and use forever

Marcus WebbApril 2, 2026

Most teams build three or four design systems before they get one that lasts. Not because the work was bad — because the context kept changing. What if the system was built to absorb change instead of resist it?

Token-first architecture gives you exactly that. The primitives stay stable while the semantics do all the work of staying current with your product.

“The best system is the one your team actually uses.”

That means ergonomics matter as much as coverage. A system nobody reaches for is a system that doesn't exist.

Shape

Soft radius. 1px borders.

Harvest's physical language.

Standard 10px radius with sharp 4px small elements and a fully-open pill for tags. The shape language is restrained — these are frames for product, not brand statements. The precision of the small element radius matches the Space Grotesk body's utilitarian character.

Farm to screen.

Orange accent. Olive surfaces.

Harvest's orange-red accent on sage-green and white creates an agricultural color story that is distinctive on mobile and immediately unmistakable as produce-coded.

Smooth and compact.

Harvest's invisible layer.

Tinted shadow with a dark-green hue. The green in the shadow is not visible — it is felt. Cards seem to exist in a garden context even when the shadow is the only hint. The generous 8px space unit (double the standard) creates a roomy spatial system. The active scale at 0.99 creates barely a movement on interaction — more like a breath than a press.
