Active Seed DNA · Gridwork
Colorful database tool with playful professionalism
Database tools that proved spreadsheets could have personality without sacrificing utility. Large type scale at 1.69 where every row heading carries the weight of a section label. Very faint shadows that create barely-there card lift on a white surface — depth as suggestion. The tradition of making color-coded data feel organized and joyful simultaneously.
Near-black accent (#181D26) on white gives maximum readability without harsh contrast. Large type scale (1.69) creates bold hierarchy that works in dense data views. 16px radius softens what could feel like a rigid spreadsheet. Subtle 20px soft shadow adds just enough depth to float cards above the grid. Outlined icons keep the interface clean when surrounded by colorful data.
Database and spreadsheet tools that need personality without sacrificing clarity. Project tracking SaaS where color-coded status systems matter. No-code data platforms targeting non-technical power users. Team productivity tools that need to feel organized but not boring.
Your brand is minimal and editorial. The playful density and large type scale feel too busy for long reads. You need dark mode as default. This seed's personality lives in the white space between colored elements. Your product is a developer tool. The rounded playfulness undermines technical credibility.
One accent to break the silence.
White background with a near-black accent creates the highest possible contrast ratio for interactive elements. Buttons, links, and primary actions punch through the clean white surface like markers on a whiteboard. The subtle blue-tinted shadow (rgba with a blue shift at 15, 48, 106) adds a professional undertone without being visible as a color. You feel it more than see it.
The muted text at #41454D is warm gray, not cold. That warmth keeps secondary information feeling approachable rather than disabled.
Gridwork figured out why.
Gridwork makes database tools feel like a creative medium, clean enough to be serious, lively enough to be used without dread.
Paired with Switzer.
Inter at weight 400 with normal letter-spacing. Clean. Unassuming. In a data tool, the typography needs to work at every size from table headers to card titles to inline labels. Inter handles all of those without flinching. The 1.35 line-height keeps data rows compact while keeping paragraph text readable.
The large type scale (1.69) creates significant size differences between heading levels. That dramatic hierarchy helps users navigate complex interfaces where multiple content types compete for attention. Big titles anchor sections. Small labels stay out of the way.
Gridwork makes it real.
Inside Gridwork's editorial layouts, database documentation has the playful confidence of a product that knows data doesn't have to be boring.
Design tokens that give your product a point of view. Not just colors and fonts. Personality.
Gridwork's physical language.
Sixteen-pixel radius on containers gives everything a modern, consumer-grade feel. The small 2px radius on detail elements keeps data cells and controls crisp. That contrast between the soft containers and sharp inner elements is the visual trick that makes a database feel like an app. The 12-column grid with 24px gaps creates a structure that can hold complex layouts without feeling cluttered.
Gridwork stays useful.
The clean, playful structure of Gridwork holds on mobile, making it genuinely useful for quick lookups and updates on the move.
Production-ready tokens for every project.
Gridwork's invisible layer.
Soft layered shadows with a cool blue undertone. Elements lift gently off the white canvas. The shadow is so subtle you'd miss it in a screenshot, but remove it and everything would feel flat and lifeless. That's the hallmark of good shadow design. Present but invisible. The lift hover effect adds to the physical metaphor. Cards rise. Buttons respond. The interface has weight.
111 design decisions that all agree with each other. Made for you to use in an instant.

Shipwreck turns your git push into a production deploy in 11 seconds. Zero config, infinite scale, and an interface that doesn’t look like a spreadsheet.
Trusted by teams at
Link your GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket in two clicks. We scan your tech stack instantly.
Our high-speed runners build your app in isolated containers. No cold starts, just speed.
Your app is pushed to 300+ edge locations globally. Sub-10ms latency for every user.
A dashboard built for developers who hate dashboards. No fluff, just the metrics that matter for your application health.
Shipwreck is the first platform that actually stays out of my way. It feels like I’m writing code directly to the browser.
The speed is actually offensive. I push a commit and before I can switch tabs, the preview link is already in Slack.
We migrated 400 microservices in a weekend. Our dev team might actually like me now. Highly recommended.
Start for free, grow until you’re a unicorn.
Absolutely not. We run our own bare-metal orchestration layer built specifically for high-frequency deployments. While we leverage cloud partners for edge nodes, the core engine is pure Shipwreck engineering.
11-second deploys. Automatic rollbacks. Zero YAML. Start free, no credit card.
