A Swedish national museum that chose deep burgundy and flame orange as its palette — colors from the textile and folk art collections it houses.
Burgundy background with orange text is visually unusual and immediately ownable. Syne used for both heading and body creates a dense, continuous typographic texture. Massive 122px heading scale in the source creates the feel of exhibition labels. 2px border width throughout signals craft — slightly thicker than standard, intentionally noticeable.

You need a light or neutral color scheme. Your brand requires accessible contrast — orange text on dark burgundy is demanding. You need to mix multiple font styles — the single-font-weight approach limits hierarchy options.
Light finds its way through red.
Deep burgundy (#4B0A23) as a background has no digital precedent in this collection. It is not slate, not navy, not near-black. It is the color of a wine cellar or a museum storage room — the specific deep red-brown of spaces that hold valuable things. Flame orange (#FF4629) on that background creates maximum warm contrast.
Text and accent using the same flame orange is unusual — it means that primary text is also the brand color. The information and the identity are the same signal.

Furnace's deep burgundy and flame orange derive from the Nordiska museet's folk art and textile collections — these are not digital-native color choices, they are material ones, and the warmth they carry on screen is the warmth of physical things.

Syne used for both headings and body at a consistent weight creates a typographic system with no variation in register — no serif-to-sans switching, no bold display versus light body. The visual hierarchy comes entirely from scale. And in the source, the scale is extreme: 122-pixel headings that make characters into architectural elements.
Body text in Syne at 400 with 1.22 line-height is dense. The compact vertical rhythm creates a typographic texture that reads as printed matter — old journal, not digital interface.

The modest radius is appropriate for a heritage system — a small softening that acknowledges that completely rigid shapes would feel harsh on dark backgrounds, without departing into the rounded territory of consumer products. Two-pixel border width throughout reads as crafted rather than default.

Furnace's saturated warm palette compresses to mobile with full visual intensity. The flame orange text on burgundy background creates immediate identity even in the confined space of a phone screen.

The shadow system is flat by design — the source uses a transparent zero-shadow that was a deliberate authorial choice. On dark backgrounds, surface differentiation comes from color value rather than shadow. Subtle surface noise gives the burgundy sections a slightly textured quality. The relaxed motion pace and custom spring-curve easing create transitions that feel considered rather than instant.
